Art Cure 2016 to be hosted at Gilley’s Dallas

Dallas-based sculpture artist Doyle Glass will host ArtCure on Friday, April 15 from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. at “The Loft” at Gilley’s Dallas benefiting the Kim Hazelwood Glass Endowment at Children’s Medical Center Research Institute at UT Southwestern (CRI) and metastatic breast cancer research conducted at Dr. Matthew Ellis’ lab at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

ArtCure, previously known as Art to Beat Cancer raised $165,261 last year for childhood cancer research at Children’s Research Institute and $200,000 for metastatic breast cancer research at University of Louisville’s James Graham Brown Cancer Center. ArtCure honors Mr. Glass’ late wife, Kim Hazelwood Glass. Generously, the Glass Foundation will match all sales from works of art sold at the event, with proceeds directly benefiting cancer research.

“My late wife Kim’s life wish was to put an end to childhood cancer and metastatic breast cancer,” said Mr. Glass, founder of ArtCure. “Our goal is to raise $100,000 for cancer research this year alone, and in order to do this we need help through cash donations.” One great way is to participate in ArtCure’s patron program and bidding on art at the upcoming event. Guests can participate in a silent auction for unique art of all kinds, such as tickets to a quartet concert, sculptures, and paintings. Light hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served throughout the evening.

For the first time, this year Mr. Glass himself has created six sculptures titled, “Fortitudo de Muliere,” meaning strength of the woman. These sculptures honor all women who battle metastatic breast cancer. The five sculptures will be sold at $1,000 each and each sale will be double-matched, resulting in a $3,000 donation to ArtCure for the purpose increasing the cancer research. There will be a sixth artist proof, which will be awarded to the top donor.
